There's a certain feeling of peace you get when you're taking medicine for an ailment, as you can (in many cases) sort of sit back and let the medicine work its magic. It's no longer your responsibility to grimace and frown at the ailment, as though you can beat it by sheer force of will—just letting go and letting the medicine percolate through you is soothing.
